Australia’s plants and flowers have a distinctly sculptural beauty, defined by bold forms, intricate textures and unusual structures. Their silhouettes balance strong geometry with delicate detail, creating shapes that feel both refined and unmistakably wild.

I use the term ‘laser drawing’ to describe recent works made by using a laser to remove pigment from black paper, producing white and grey lines much like an inverted charcoal drawing. Laser power and speed take the place of different pens, inks and drawing pressures. Unlike conventional laser engraving, the aim is not precise, photo-like reproduction, but a more interpretive representation that draws attention to the character and structure of the subject.
